This is an opportunity to connect with the Legislators who represent the 15th Legislative District, discuss important issues facing our district, and ensure our voices are heard. The 15th LD includes all the City of Yakima from the river to approximately 16th Ave. Chris Corry, Jeremie Dufault, and Nikki Torres are expected to attend.

Sen. Nikki Torres

Sen. Nikki Torres, R-Pasco, has made her life in the Mid-Columbia region, and is proud to represent the people of the 15th Legislative District. Elected to the state Senate in 2022, Torres is a longtime community leader dedicated to the progress of agriculture, economic development, education, the leading-edge technologies under development at Hanford, and the advancement of the diverse communities and populations of the Yakima Valley and the greater Tri-Cities area. Nikki attended Pasco High School and earned undergraduate and master’s degrees in business administration from the University of Phoenix. She is a strategic partnership manager for Western Governors University. Previously she specialized in small business lending at GESA credit union. She is a former president of the Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and served as a member of the Pasco City Council. Other prior community involvements include service on the Washington Childcare Collaborative Task Force and the Kennewick Police Department Foundation, and board positions for Tri-Cities Community Health and Visit Tri-Cities. Nikki has two daughters and is grandmother to three.

Rep. Chris Corry

Rep. Chris Corry is serving his fourth term as a state representative for the Yakima area. He previously served in the 14th Legislative District, but after redistricting, now serves in the 15th Legislative District. Corry earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Washington, where he met his wife Jennica. Their career paths took them to Southern California. After a few years, looking for a better environment to raise his family, Chris moved to Yakima. As a passionate supporter of our state and national Constitutions, Chris was inspired to get into politics to serve the Central Washington communities he loves. Chris’ legislative priorities include: Protecting parental rights Providing an effective and fully funded K-12 education system Providing law enforcement with the necessary tools to ensure public safety Reducing taxes and irresponsible budget growth Encouraging job growth by protecting people and businesses from taxes and regulations Emergency powers reforms that create more balance between the Executive and Legislative branches to ensure all the people of Washington state are represented Prioritizing the rehiring of state workers who lost jobs due to the terminated COVID-19 vaccination mandate for state employees Improving Washington’s mental health system Chris believes in community and volunteers with several local non-profits, such as the Salvation Army and Crime Stoppers of Yakima County. He also serves as a board member for the Central Washington Fair Association. Chris and his wife, Jennica, live in Yakima and have four children.

Rep. Jeremie Dufault

Rep. Jeremie Dufault was born and raised in Yakima and graduated from A.C. Davis High School. His family has lived and farmed in Yakima and Benton counties for nearly 100 years. Jeremie is a dad and real estate developer. He is active in the local community, having served on the Selah City Council and as chairman of the Yakima Veterans Board and the Yakima Valley Technical Skill Center General Advisory Council. He was the vice chairman of the Yakima County Republican Central Committee and served on the Yakima County Economic Development Board. He is also a member of the American Legion Selah Post 88 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. A Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve JAG Corps, Jeremie served in Kuwait and Afghanistan. Jeremie was first elected to the Washington State House of Representatives in 2018. He currently serves on the House Consumer Protection and Business, Housing and Rules committees.
